Sunset Islands
Sunset Islands are a set of 4 small islands located just to the West of Miami Beach, roughly between 20th and 29th Streets, which are also the two streets providing bridge access. From North to South, the Islands are called Sunset I, Sunset II, Sunset III, and Sunset IV. Sunset I and II are accessible by 29th Street, whereas Sunset III and IV are accessible by 20th Street, with no connecting bridge between II and III. As the name implies, the islands are known for their captivating sunset views. Offering both dry lot and waterfront homes, this luxury home neighborhood is one of the most highly coveted in all South Florida. Residents enjoy 24 hours a day gated entry, private docks for waterfront homes, and a central location to hot spots such as Sunset Harbour and Lincoln Road. Serving stunning water views, a prime locale, and elegant bayfront estates, the Sunset Islands community is undeniably one of Miami Beach’s finest.
In the 1920s, Carl Fisher set out to develop Miami Beach as a winter destination for the wealthy tourists of the North and the Midwest. Most of Miami Beach, including Sunset Islands, Star, Palm, and Hibiscus islands, was formed by the dredging of Biscayne Bay, and visitors flocked to several famed resorts: The Flamingo Hotel, The Floridian, The Nautilus, and the Roney Plaza.
