A Historic Milestone: Baccarat Residences Miami’s Foundation Pour

Baccarat Residences Miami

This past weekend, the Miami skyline witnessed a significant milestone in luxury development with the completion of the foundation pour for the highly anticipated Baccarat Residences Miami. This event not only marked a pivotal moment for Related Group and GTIS Partners but also set a new record for both firms in terms of scale and magnitude.

The foundation pour, executed by Ceco Concrete Construction, required over 10,000 cubic yards of concrete and 1,500 tons of reinforcing steel. The 30-hour operation began at 8 p.m. on Friday and continued non-stop until 2 a.m. on Sunday, making it one of the most extensive pours in Miami’s recent history. The general contractor, John Moriarty & Associates of Florida (JMA), led the project with precision, supported by Florida Concrete Unlimited, Titan America, Gancedo Lumber, B&J Consulting Engineers, and NV5.

“It’s not every day you see a foundation pour of this scale and magnitude. It was truly a once-or-twice-in-a-lifetime event,” said Nicholas Perez, President of Related’s Condominium Division. He expressed deep gratitude for the exceptional coordination and planning required from all parties involved, noting that such a monumental undertaking is a rare achievement.

Baccarat Residences Miami: A New Icon on Brickell Avenue

Set on one of the last waterfront parcels along Brickell Avenue, where the Miami River meets Biscayne Bay, Baccarat Residences Miami is poised to become a new landmark in luxury living. The 75-story tower is a collaboration of world-renowned talents: the architecture is designed by the international firm Arquitectónica, the interiors by NYC-based Meyer Davis, and the landscape by Swiss architect Enzo Enea.

This project is particularly notable as it represents the legendary French crystal brand Baccarat’s first stand-alone residential tower, a venture managed by the hospitality titan SH Hotels & Resorts. The tower, a sister property to the record-breaking Baccarat Hotel & Residences NYC, will feature 355 residences, including eight exclusive penthouses, and is already 95 percent sold, with a few premium residences still available.

Unmatched Luxury and Five-Star Amenities

Residents of Baccarat Residences Miami will enjoy an unparalleled lifestyle, with over 75,000 square feet of luxurious amenities spread across five levels of the tower. The amenities include exquisitely appointed social spaces, a state-of-the-art health and fitness center, La Mer spa facilities, a private marina for residents’ yachts, and a curated collection of museum-quality art. Each aspect of the residence will be managed by SH Hotels & Resorts, ensuring the highest standards of service and sophistication.

A Visionary Project for Miami’s Future

The completion of this historic foundation pour is a testament to the vision and ambition behind Baccarat Residences Miami. As construction progresses, this project is set to redefine luxury living in Miami, offering residents not just a home but a lifestyle steeped in elegance and exclusivity.

As Miami continues to evolve as a global city, developments like Baccarat Residences Miami underscore the city’s growing appeal as a destination for those seeking the finest in residential living. The successful execution of the foundation pour is a strong indicator of the commitment to quality and excellence that will carry through to the completion of this extraordinary tower.

Construction Update for Baccarat Residences Miami

Baccarat Residences Miami Upper Penthouse Terrace

Last week marked a pivotal moment for Miami’s real estate landscape as we witnessed the commencement of construction for the Baccarat Residences Miami, a development poised to redefine luxury living in the city. The groundbreaking ceremony, captured and shared through social media, has ignited conversations and anticipation among industry insiders and aficionados alike.

Baccarat Residences is on track to become an iconic fixture in Miami’s skyline, boasting an impressive stature of 75 stories, and soaring to a height of 848 feet above ground, or 852 feet above sea level. This monumental structure is set to eclipse the current record-holder, the Aston Martin Residences tower, which stands tall at 66 stories and 816 feet above ground, located just along the Miami River and nearing its completion.

Not too far from the site, the Waldorf Astoria is making its own mark, with construction well underway. This ambitious project is expected to reach a staggering 1,041 feet above ground, incorporating both hotel and residential components, offering a multifaceted luxury experience.

The city’s Building Department has been actively involved, issuing a site work permit for the Baccarat Residences in September, with the permit for full vertical construction currently under meticulous review.

John Moriarty, a name synonymous with excellence and precision in construction, has been entrusted as the contractor for this landmark project.

Adjacent to the Baccarat site, another development is taking shape. A 44-story tower, currently under construction, is set to house 506 apartments, further enriching Miami’s residential offerings.

For hedge fund managers and investors alike, the Baccarat Residences represent not just a pinnacle of luxury living, but also a strategic opportunity in one of Miami’s most sought-after locales. The project’s ambitious scale and prime location underscore Miami’s unwavering appeal and resilience, even in the face of ever-evolving market dynamics.

Related Group Finds 7000 Year Old Objects at New Construction Site

For the last 18 months, archaeologists have been excavating at a new development site on the Miami River, where developer Related Group plans to build three residential towers.

Researchers claim to have discovered a significant archaeological discovery at the location, including 7,000-year-old relics and other proof that the area was once occupied by prehistoric people.

One of the towers will include Baccarat Residences Miami. Ancient artifacts and fossils found at the site are giving researchers a glimpse into a civilization that once thrived along the river. One of the earliest populations in the region is thought to have been the Tequesta people.

Will Pestle, a bioarchaeologist and University of Miami Professor stated “There is a very important ceramic phase of this site so there is pottery, broken pieces of pottery, there are stone tools, arrowheads, projectile points, abundant animal remains, deer and fish, but there are also remains of sharks. There are remains of giant sea turtles, remains of whales, remains of an extinct kind of seal, the West Indian monk seal.”

The Miami Professor also stated that the site could date back to as early as 7,000 years which he states is older than the pyramids in Egypt and Colosseum in Rome.

The site is significant and they believe it to be “potentially eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places based on criterion D, that it contains well-preserved cultural deposits that could contribute to our knowledge of prehistoric subsistence and settlement patterns,” according to a 2021 report submitted to the city by Archaeological and Historical Conservancy, Inc. Additionally, the location has human remains that fall under Chapter 872.05 of the Florida Statutes.

According to the group, archaeologists have “collected cultural material” that includes “tools and jewelry made of stone, shell, and bone. Ecofacts contain animal teeth and bones as well as shells that indicate food waste.

According to the paper, “Other elements of importance include wood, seeds, and charcoal. Historical artifacts include some items connected to European interaction, most likely Spanish artifacts from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. The objects connected to Miami’s American settlers from the nineteenth century are among the additional historical items.

Pestle also stated, “Let’s design the buildings in such a way that what is there can be preserved and seen by the public visiting, so when you walk into that Baccarat hotel, which is going to be on the parcel that is currently being excavated, you can see through a glass floor and you can see the ancient remnants of this city.”

On April 4th the Historic and Environmental Preservation Board is meeting to discuss the importance of the findings as well as the procedures that were followed in the excavation.
